Our ever-growing university got involved in one another project. Faculty of Engineering and Architecture Department of Genetics and Bioengineering academic member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Sevim and Faculty of Agriculture Department of Plant Protection academic member Prof. Dr. Ali Sevim took part in "Countrywide Bee Project" conducted by Dr. Rahşan Akpınar who is responsible for Samsun Directorate of Veterinary Control Institute Bee Diseases Laboratory which is also supported by The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry General Directorate of Food and Control and General Directorate of Agriculture Research and Policies. Our academic members who take place in the project carried out their researches on the detection of bacterial and fungal bee diseases with molecular techniques based on PCR by using the substructure of our university's Genetic and Bioengineering Research Laboratory.

The first year of the three-year project has completed successfully. With this project, important data were gathered for our country which is one of the first three countries in the world with its about 7.709.636 million colonies and 107.665-ton honey production. Bees which play a crucial role in the continuation of life played a huge role in the project in honey yield and pollination.
