The first one of the visits to higher education institutions chosen as specialized universities and activity performance monitoring meetings within the scope of Mission Differentiation and Specialization based on the Regional Development Project was hosted by Düzce University. Member of the Executive Council of the Council of Higher Education (YOK) Prof. Dr. Naci Gündoğan, Presidency of The Republic of Turkey Directorate of Strategy and Budget, Ministry of Industry and Technology, authorities from Development Agencies, the Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya and rectors and vice-rectors of specialized universities, coordinators and academicians attended the programme organized in Rectorship Workshop Hall on the date of 8 February 2019. 

Performance Monitoring Committee for specialized universities was established and annual performance reviews will be done according to criteria that will be decided. The Rector of our University Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya stated these words in the meeting: "We came to a very gratifying point within the scope of Mission Differentiation and Specialization based on the Regional Development Project, Turkish Higher Education has changed now and universities make economic contributions to their regions. The number of pilot universities will increase and cover all regions in time and the values of the regions will be produced by the universities and those values will be useful in material and spiritual ways." Prof. Karakaya also said that those periodical meetings guide specialized universities and the communication between the universities will make an important contribution to the development of the country.
