Scientists from different countries have come to our university to examine fossils that belong to Late Miocene Age and were discovered in the ongoing archeological excavations in Kurutlu village. The excavations were started with the permission of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Directorate General of Cultural Assets and Museums and have been carried out under the presidency of Associate Prof. Dr. Cem Erkman who is a member of the Department of Anthropology of our university. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt accompanied the guests during their visit taking place on the date of 5 April 2019 to the Faculty of Science and Letters and got information about the excavations from Prof. Dr. Şakir Önder Özkurt and Associate Prof. Dr. Cem Erkman.

Prof. Dr. Tim White and Dr. Joshua Carlson from the University of California-Berkeley, Dr. Gen Suwa from the University of Tokyo, Dr. Faysal Bibi from Berlin Natural History Museum (Museum für Naturkunde), Dr. Berhane ASFAW from the National Museum, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Prof. Dr. Christoph Zollikofer and Dr. Marcia Ponce de León from the University of Zurich have attended the meeting and then they came together with our students and gave information about the activities of Anthropology and its fields.
