"3 December International Day of Persons with Disabilities" event was organized by Kırşehir Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services and Kırşehir Ahi Evran University under the coordination of Kırşehir Governorship. Kırşehir Governor İbrahim Akın, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, Provincial Police Chief Murat Türesin, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander G. Colonel Sadık Gülecen, Kırşehir Family and Social Services Provincial Director Abdullah Kömürcüoğlu and related institution personnel and citizens attended.

Director Kömürcüoğlu: "We should bear in our mind that all of us might be disabled one day.”

Kırşehir Family and Social Services Provincial Director Abdullah Kömürcüoğlu, who went up to the rostrum to make his speech, said that 3 December International Day of Persons with Disabilities was celebrated in order to enable disabled people to continue their lives like other people, to better understand them and to raise awareness. Kömürcüoğlu stated that the disability, present by birth or acquired during a person's lifetime, should not change the value of humanity. Underlining that the thought that we may all be disabled one day, the director Kömürcüoğlu stated that it would always be appropriate to provide convenience to disabled citizens and those who take care of them, and that it is necessary to reflect  their situation in our inner world.

Governor Akın: We should always be with our disabled citizens, not just on the special days.

Kırşehir Governor İbrahim Akın, who started his speech by stating that disability cannot be only disabled citizens' problems, emphasized that everyone's contribution and effort is needed at this point in order to eliminate negativities. Governor Akın explained that the State of the Republic of Turkiye has put forward all kinds of legal regulations so that disabled citizens can live comfortably and peacefully, participate more actively in daily life, and benefit from public opportunities as much as possible.  Akın pointed out that we are not only with disabled citizens on the special days, but we are always with them by removing the obstacles between us, and he concluded his speech by wishing disabled citizens a happy, healthy and successful life.

Rector Karakaya: "The Biggest Handicap is the Death of Love in the Heart"

After the program, the Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya made the following evaluations: "Man is a creature created with superior qualities. The superior quality in creation does not change with disability because the biggest handicap is the death of love in the heart. It is the responsibility of all of us so that the disabled can live more comfortably and easily. We have a responsibility to create a new world that will provide this opportunity.” Rector Karakaya concluded his speech by indicating the need to consider the disabled while building the new world.

After the speeches, the "disabled-friendly video" specially prepared for the "December 3 International Day of Persons with Disabilities" was watched, and then the Quran was recited. Later, the Janissary March performance, the Disabled-Friendly Musical Performance, the Poetry Concert and the Theater Performance prepared by the disabled citizens were staged. Finally, 3 December International Day of Persons with Disabilities event came to an end with the concert prepared by Abdallar Music Ensemble, that disabled citizens had fun.
