Faculty Member of the Food Processing Department of KAEU Kaman School of Applied Sciences, Asst. Prof. Dr. Şefik Tekle presented the food supplement he developed within the scope of the TÜBİTAK project to Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya. During the visit to the rector's office on June 1, 2023, Dr. Şefik Tekle gave information to Rector Karakaya about the food supplement he developed.

Providing information about what collagen is and how it works, Dr. Şefik Tekle continued his speech by stating that collagen was one of the most important protein components in the structure of the skin, hair, cornea, blood vessels, muscles, bones, and tendons. He stated that “It plays an essential role in hair and nail repair, joint health, muscle development, elasticity capacity of the skin, and vascular flexibility. Although it varies according to the type of collagen, it is useful in preventing bone loss, increasing muscle development, alleviating joint complaints, improving skin health, and strengthening nails and hair.

The project of Dr. Şefik Tekle previously won the second prize at TEKNOFEST 2021 and grant support at TEKNOFEST 2022 within the scope of the Entrepreneurship Program. The first product produced within the scope of the project was “DR SHEF-TECH COLLAGEN FOOD SUPPLEMENT”. The product, which contains vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, zinc, biotin, and selenium in addition to collagen, has a very rich and high-quality ingredient.

Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya stated that he found the food supplement produced within the scope of the project by KAEU Faculty Fember Dr. Şefik Tekle found successful and expressed that it was of great importance that the knowledge emerging at the university reached the market and became a value-added product. Rector Karakaya congratulated Dr. Şefik Tekle for his success after stating that he would support all the projects that would create added value for our country and develop university-industry cooperation.
