The 178th anniversary of the initiation of agricultural education in our country was celebrated with a program held at the Faculty of Agriculture of KAEU. The program was attended by Vice-Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş, Secretary-General Dr. Hüseyin İlter, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kazankaya, academic and administrative staff, and students.


We Strengthen Our Staff and Application Areas

In the opening speech of the program, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kazankaya stated that the transition to agricultural education in our country started in 1846, and Agricultural Faculties have made significant contributions to agriculture. Emphasizing the importance of the efforts of Agricultural Faculties in meeting the demand for qualified workforce in the food and agriculture sector, Dean Kazankaya highlighted that they were a pilot university in agriculture and geothermal fields. He stated that they would continue their work for the development and progress of Turkish agriculture. Lastly, Kazankaya mentioned that the Faculty of Agriculture educated open-minded and well-equipped agricultural engineers at the national level who contributed scientifically and technologically to solving problems encountered in agriculture. He mentioned that they continuously strengthened their academic staff and application areas for this purpose.



Agricultural Activities Are Becoming Increasingly Important

Following the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kazankaya, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş made a brief speech. In his speech, Vice Rector Güneş celebrated the 178th anniversary of the transition to agricultural education, stating that agriculture had a significant place in the economic and social fields of every country. Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş, emphasizing that agricultural activities were gaining increasing importance both globally and in our country in recent years, highlighted that agriculture was now being conducted in a more modern way.



As part of the program, Asude Özdemir, a student of the Department of Horticulture and the student representative of the Faculty of Agriculture, made a brief speech expressing pride and honor in being a candidate for the most strategic sector and indispensable profession in life. She stated that they celebrated this special day with great enthusiasm and excitement. Following the speeches, the event concluded with the cutting of the cake prepared for the 178th anniversary of Agricultural Education.
