Kırşehir Ahi Evran University has taken another step forward in advancing agricultural research in our country. As part of the Konya Plain Project (KOP) Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Program, KAEU Geothermal Advanced Greenhouse Technologies and Production Techniques Joint Application and Research Center (JİSTUAM) is carrying out the Hydrogen Heating System Solar Energy Hydrosera Pilot Application Project in its R&D greenhouse. Within the scope of the project, a 79 kWe solar power plant (SPP) and a next-generation hydrogen plasma heating system have been installed to heat the KAEU R&D greenhouse. The sustainable electricity generated by the SPP is converted into heat using the environmentally friendly hydrogen plasma heating system, which is then utilized to maintain the greenhouse's temperature.

KAEU R&D greenhouse began geothermal-based heating on November 11, 2024, and comparisons with hybrid heating systems have been ongoing throughout the 2024-2025 winter season. The heating of the greenhouse, within the scope of the project, is planned to continue until April 15, 2025, with data collection on the system's performance and efficiency continuing until this date. The project aims to comprehensively assess the heating performance and cost efficiency of the SPP-supported hydrogen plasma heating system throughout an entire winter season, providing a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative heating solution for greenhouses.
