The “A Cup of Coffee, A Thousand Ideas” event was organized by the KAEU Research and Development (R&D) Directorate. Held on April 28, 2025, in the foyer area of the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center, the event was attended by Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş and Prof. Dr. Musa Özata, Secretary General Dr. Hüseyin İlter, along with academic and administrative staff and students.
The opening speech of the event was delivered by Vice Rector of KAEU and Director of R&D, Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş, who shared insights about the objectives and activities of the Directorate of Research and Development. In his speech, Güneş discussed the projects that have been implemented and are planned under the R&D Directorate, emphasizing that numerous meetings have been held regarding these initiatives. Highlighting that the projects contribute not only to academic achievement but also to regional development, Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş stated that such events offer valuable opportunities for supporting creative ideas. He described the event as not just a space for exchanging ideas but also as a platform that inspires future projects, and continued his remarks as follows: “We wanted to bring you together around a table to encourage participation in innovative projects and to share your ideas. In this context, the ‘A Cup of Coffee, A Thousand Ideas’ event serves as an important bridge.” Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş expressed his gratitude to all sponsors and contributors of the “A Cup of Coffee, A Thousand Ideas” event and wished that it would inspire all academics.
Following Vice Rector and Director of R&D Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş, Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil took the floor. In his speech, Rector Karahocagil emphasized the significance of the “A Cup of Coffee, A Thousand Ideas” event and elaborated on the contributions of the R&D Directorate to KAEU. Highlighting that universities are not merely institutions that share knowledge, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil stated, “Universities are pioneering institutions that generate knowledge and share what they produce.” He noted that the R&D Directorate has established a crucial system for the university and works in collaboration with academics who prioritize research and development. Rector Karahocagil pointed out that higher education institutions integrating R&D and educational processes are generally more successful. He continued his speech with the following remarks: “We cannot stay away from artificial intelligence, R&D processes, and projects. We must strive to integrate R&D into our educational processes. Therefore, KAEU R&D Directorate has significant duties and responsibilities. It is equally important that academics and scientists actively contribute to this process.” Emphasizing that education is the primary mission of universities, Rector Karahocagil also underlined the importance of volunteerism in R&D efforts and stated that he sees this spirit of volunteerism among the university’s academics. He further stressed the need to create multidisciplinary collaboration environments with academics from other universities and cities, stating, “There is no task that cannot be accomplished through teamwork.”
During the event attended by Rector of KAEU Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil, academics gathered over coffee to share their creative ideas and projects to contribute to the university’s development.
