Kırşehir Ahi Evran University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil attended a call meeting organized by the Palestine Support Platform, the Union of Academics and Writers of Islamic Countries (AYBİR), Eğitim-Bir-Sen, Maarif Foundation of Turkey, and the International Palestine Solidarity Union (UFİDAP) for universities before the 2025-2026 academic year. On September 18, 2025, at a call meeting held at the Bahariye Mevlevihanesi in Eyüpsultan, Istanbul, university administrators, academics, and students were called upon to make “The First Lesson Palestine.” It was also pointed out at the meeting that the management approach of continuing cooperation with Israel at universities must be ended immediately.

At the “First Lesson Palestine” call meeting, which saw strong participation from civil society organizations as well as the education community, it was emphasized that Israel's genocide against Gaza must remain a constant topic of discussion and that concrete steps must be taken to put an end to the genocide.

Following the meeting, Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil gave an interview to TRT News, stating that at the start of the 2025-2026 academic year, they participated in a press conference titled “First Lesson Palestine” together with AYBİR, Eğitim-Bir-Sen, Maarif Foundation of Turkey, UFİDAB, and the Support Platform for Palestine and continued his speech as follows: "The voices of our Palestinian brothers and sisters should be heard on our campuses; our universities should strengthen solidarity against the oppression in Gaza. Academic collaborations should stand with justice and conscience, and new support programs for Palestinian students and academics should be implemented. May God bless this solidarity."

Speaking about our student Majd Ali, who was martyred in Gaza, Rector Karahocagil stated his sadness that young people who wanted to continue their education even during the war to serve their country were subjected to genocide in Palestine. Professor Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil said; “The future of countries lies in the young generations they raise." and continued his speech as follows: “If Majd Ali had not been martyred in Israel’s attack on Gaza, he would have started his education this year at our University’s Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. But Israel did not allow this. Another young person has been torn from Palestine's future." Noting that it is necessary to put an end to this genocide in order to prevent Israel from killing more people and destroying the future of Palestine, Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kasım Karahocagil expressed his hope that the meeting would achieve its purpose.
