The Research and Publication Ethics in Health Sciences Camp began through a partnership between Kırşehir Ahi Evran University Faculty of Medicine and the Turkish Bioethics Association. The event took place on October 2, 2025, at the Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Hall in the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center, with the participation of Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Nurettin Cengiz, President of the Turkish Bioethics Association Prof. Dr. Gürkan Sert, scientists, and academic and administrative staff.

The opening speech of the camp was delivered by Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Nurettin Cengiz. In his speech, Cengiz emphasized the importance of history and ethics throughout society in every era, and underlined the growing significance of the Department of Medical History and Ethics in medical faculties. He reminded the audience that Ahi Evran-ı Veli, the namesake of our university, authored “Fütüvvetnames” that set ethical standards for 32 professions, including medicine. Prof. Dr. Cengiz said, “I believe that these gatherings can benefit not only doctors, midwives, and nurses but also historians, lawyers, and even theologians.” He added that this camp will now be held regularly and thanked all who contributed, wishing everyone a fruitful program.

Until October 3, 2025, participants will attend sessions covering a wide range of topics, including “Research and Ethics of Being Human in Turkey,” “Structure and Function of Bioethics Boards,” “Data and Biological Material Sharing,” “Research on Vulnerable Groups,” “Conflicts of Interest in Research,” “Publication Ethics,” “AI Usage and Ethics in Publications,” “Ethical Violations and Legal Issues in Publishing,” and “The Editor’s Perspective on Publication Ethics.”
