On October 8, 2025, Kırşehir Ahi Evran University’s Special Education Department, in cooperation with the Barrier-Free University Coordination Unit, held a workshop at Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center to promote stronger teacher-parent collaboration in autism education. The event was attended by Kırşehir Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Yasin Çakmakçı, Special Education Department Head Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Akdal, special education teachers, academic staff, parents, and students.
In the opening speech of the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Akdal, Head of the Special Education Department, emphasized the importance of cooperation among teachers, families, and the university for the full participation of individuals with autism in society. He also expressed hope that this workshop would set an example in making life easier for people with autism. Dr. Akdal added that the university will continue to support the education of individuals with special needs in line with its “Accessible University” vision through such events.
As part of the workshop, group activities were held on the challenges faced in the education of children with autism, models of teacher-parent collaboration, and effective communication and support strategies. The event concluded with a feedback and recommendations session following discussions enriched by the contributions of teachers and parents.



The Coordination Office of Institutional Communication
