Under the auspices of the Kırşehir Governorship, Erol Güngör Memorial Program was organized in partnership with Kırşehir Ahi Evran University and Kırşehir Provincial Directorate of National Education. Held on November 25, 2025 at the Neşet Ertaş Hall of Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center, the panel was attended by Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek, Kırşehir Deputy Governor İsmail Çetinkaya, Kırşehir Provincial Director of National Education Yusuf Yasin Gülşen, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Şimşek, Türkiye Writers' Union Istanbul Branch President Mahmut Bıyıklı, academic and administrative staff, and students.

Before the panel, Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek gave a speech. In his speech, Governor Demiryürek highlighted the role and importance of Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör in our culture and spoke about the values he brought to our country. Explaining that Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör was one of the important thinkers in Turkish intellectual life, Kırşehir Governor Murat Sefa Demiryürek added that Güngör made significant contributions to the modernization of Turkish society and identity studies. Expressing his gratitude for commemorating Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör on his birthday with such an event, Governor Demiryürek remembered Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör with respect and wished for a productive panel discussion.

Afterwards, the panel moderated by Prof. Dr. Maksut Yiğitbaş began. First, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Şimşek gave a presentation titled “Erol Güngör's Thoughts on the Triangle of Human, Society, and Education,” noting that Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör was a multifaceted and profound thinker who grew up in Kırşehir. Explaining that Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör's thoughts on humanity and society had influenced society, Şimşek stated that Güngör was also an important thinker who brought together the past and the future and united the West and the East. Continuing his speech with Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör's words, “A tree without roots cannot live,” Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Şimşek added that Güngör approached education separately from both an individual and a societal perspective.

Following, the President of the Istanbul Branch of the Türkiye Writers' Union Mahmut Bıyıklı gave a presentation titled “Erol Güngör's Turkey.” In his presentation, Bıyıklı described the reflections of Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör's ideas on Turkey, stating, “Erol Güngör is the person who best embodies the concepts of ‘local’ and ‘national.’” Mahmut Bıyıklı said that he still believes that some of the crises in our country today can be resolved through Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör's ideas, and emphasized the need to preserve the valuable legacy that Güngör left to our culture.

At the end of the panel, Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Yaman gave a presentation titled “The Academic Works of Erol Güngör”. Yaman described Güngör's three academic works as doctorate, associate professorship, and professorship, adding that Prof. Dr. Erol Güngör particularly valued language and cultural unity. The panel ended with a group photo.
