The Social Contribution Coordination Office organized a conference as part of the Social Transcript Application. On 26 November 2025, the conference entitled “Sumud What Was Our Problem?” was held at the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center, 15 July National Will Hall. Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Özata, Social Contribution Coordinator Lecturer Bayram Koyuncu, Educator and Activist Sinan Akılotu, Journalist and Activist Yaşar Yavuz, Educator and Freedom Fleet Activist Fethullah Kirenci, along with academic and administrative staff and students.

Speaking before the conference, Social Contribution Coordinator Lecturer Bayram Koyuncu mentioned the objectives of organizing the conference and stated that they value students' social, cultural, and sporting activities as much as their academic achievements. Koyuncu also said that they carry out such activities within the scope of the Social Transcript Application and explained that they will implement all projects that will contribute to students' personal development. “Our civilization has instilled in us the belief that every human being is valuable,” said Lecturer Bayram Koyuncu, adding that for this reason, they cannot remain silent about the genocide taking place in Palestine and must help wherever there are oppressed people.

Afterwards, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Özata gave a welcoming speech, stating “Palestine and Gaza are a major concern for us.” Explaining that oppression continues in Palestine and Gaza, Özata advised students to be sensitive to this issue and not to abandon the boycott. “The more you care, the more human you are,” said Prof. Dr. Musa Özata, adding that we must show our stance against the oppression that the Palestinian people are facing.

Following the opening speeches, the panel moderated by Dr. İzzet Gülaçar began. Educator and activist Sinan Akılotu, journalist and activist Yaşar Yavuz, educator and Freedom Flotilla activist Fethullah Kirenci participated in the panel and talked about their experiences on the Sumud Flotilla. The panelists explained that they had undergone training before setting out and recounted their experiences with Israeli soldiers upon arriving in Gaza. They also emphasized the importance of Palestine and Gaza to our nation and stated that the entire world now stands against Israel.

At the end of the panel, participants were presented with gifts and certificates of appreciation by Social Contribution Coordinator Lecturer Bayram Koyuncu.
