The Economics and Management Community held a conference titled “The New Equation Led by Turkey in the Middle East Following Israel's Attack on Qatar.” The event took place on February 17, 2026, at the Ahi Evran Congress and Culture Center's July 15 National Will Hall. A faculty member at Qatar Lusail University Dr. Muhammed Mazhar Şahin participated as a speaker, while the conference also featured the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (İİBF), along with academic and administrative staff and students.
Dr. Muhammed Mazhar Şahin first spoke about his academic life and scientific work, expressing his pleasure at being with our students. Explaining that Turkey is a very important power in the Middle East, Şahin said that the Gulf countries, especially Qatar, have strong relations with our country both politically and socio-culturally. Dr. Muhammad Mazhar Shahin noted that Israel attacked Qatar because it was reluctant to attack Turkey, adding that Turkey's power in the Middle East is too great to be ignored. At the end of his speech, Shahin referred to our country's relations with Gulf countries and told students that they should carefully analyze Turkey's relations with other countries.
Following the conference, IIBF Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Oktay Kızılkaya presented a certificate of appreciation to Dr. Muhammed Mazhar Şahin for his contributions. The conference concluded with a group photo.
