As part of the "Academy in the Field" event series—launched by Kırşehir Ahi Evran University under the motto "20 Years of Academic Knowledge Meets the Future of Kırşehir"—a key session was held in the Kaman district. The program was organized through a strategic partnership between the Corporate Communications Coordination Office (Science Communication Office), the Faculty of Agriculture, and the Kaman School of Applied Sciences. The event took place on February 5, 2026, at the Kaman Municipality Service Building Assembly Hall. The panel featured a distinguished lineup from the Faculty of Agriculture, including Prof. Dr. Rüştü Hatipoğlu, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar, Prof. Dr. Yaşar Ertürk, Prof. Dr. Emre Şirin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ramazan Ayrancı, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ertuğrul Kul. The session was well-attended by fellow academics, local protocol members, and a significant number of regional producers.

University and City Hand in Hand: "Academy in the Field"

Making the opening speech of the “Academy in the Field” event series, Head of the Science Communication Office, Asst. Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Musab Yılmaz, touched upon the primary objectives of the office and stated that they aim to deliver the scientific knowledge produced at the university directly to the practitioners in the field through these events.

Taking the floor after the speech by Asst. Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Musab Yılmaz, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Selahattin Çınar, pointed out the importance of the event for Kaman, stating that bringing academic knowledge together with practice will carry Kaman’s agricultural potential to a higher level, and expressed that the cooperation between the university and society plays a critical role in agricultural development.

Agriculture’s Past, Present, and the Future of Kaman

Following the protocol speeches, Prof. Dr. Rüştü Hatipoğlu took the floor and delivered a comprehensive presentation, touching upon the strategic importance that agriculture has held throughout human history. Detailing the agricultural and livestock data of Kaman, Hatipoğlu analyzed the current field practices in the region in light of scientific data and shared them with the participants.

Subsequently, a Q&A session was held, providing participants with the opportunity to directly convey the fundamental problems they encounter in the field to the experts. While a comprehensive dialogue was established between regional producers and academics regarding current agricultural issues, technical topics such as the correct selection of pesticide types and the efficient management of costs in this process were discussed, as well as the future of the agricultural profession, government subsidies, and protective methods to increase productivity in livestock. Strategic approaches toward the effects of climate change on the agricultural calendar and the correct planning of cultivation areas were among the prominent topics in the session.

The program concluded following the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the faculty members of the Faculty of Agriculture and the taking of a commemorative photograph with the participants.
