The Neşet Ertaş Fine Arts Faculty at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University organized a concert as part of the university’s 20th anniversary celebrations. The Turkish Art Music Concert held on April 27 at the Muharrem Ertaş Hall of the Neşet Ertaş Culture and Arts Center was attended by Kırşehir Deputy Governor İsmail Çetinkaya, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Şimşek, Dean of the Neşet Ertaş Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Kubilay Kolukırık, the city’s official delegation, representatives from public institutions and the private sector, and citizens. The event once again highlighted Kırşehir Ahi Evran University’s deep academic heritage and expertise in music education.

Before the concert, Dean of the Neşet Ertaş Faculty of Fine Arts Prof. Dr. Kubilay Kolukırık delivered an opening speech. Following this, the Music Department Choir, under the direction of our faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şenol Afacan, performed select pieces from the Turkish Art Music repertoire. During the concert, pieces performed in the Muhayyer Kürdi, Hicaz, and Nihavend makams conveyed the rich melodic and modal structure of Turkish music to the audience in a captivating manner.

The performances were noted for their technical and aesthetic excellence. In the choir’s performance, the homogeneity of the voices, the clarity of intonation, adherence to musical norms, and the precision of articulation stood out; meanwhile, Conductor Şenol Afacan’s mastery of the choir, his musical interpretive power, and his aesthetic approach were met with great appreciation by the audience. The harmonious performance of the choir, soloists, and instrumentalists garnered great praise from the guests filling the hall.

At the end of the concert, Choir Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şenol Afacan was presented with flowers by Prof. Dr. Kubilay Kolukırık, Dean of the Neşet Ertaş Faculty of Fine Arts, and a certificate of appreciation by İsmail Çetinkaya, Deputy Governor of Kırşehir. The concert concluded with a group photo session following the celebrations.

Organized as part of the 20th anniversary of Kırşehir Ahi Evran University, this concert served as an important cultural event highlighting the unifying power of art within an academic setting.
