The “Ahiler Search and Rescue Team (AHAK)” was established at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University. As part of this initiative, accreditation training has begun for personnel joining the AHAK team under the coordination of AFAD. The training held on June 23, 2026 in the Conference Hall of our University’s School of Health Services and was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Özata, Disaster Management Coordinator Lecturer Vedat Açar, AFAD Training Branch Director Mustafa Yıldırım, AFAD Search and Rescue Technician Cengiz Küçükyazıcı, as well as academic and administrative staff.
The theoretical training sessions were conducted by the Director of the AFAD Training Department Mustafa Yıldırım. Yıldırım provided the AHAK team with comprehensive information on accreditation processes, the qualifications required for teams deployed during disasters and emergencies, team organization, and operational preparedness. Mustafa Yıldırım explained the importance of standards in search and rescue operations, ways to enhance teams’ capacity to respond to disasters, and the fundamental principles of the AFAD accreditation system. He also briefed participants on preparation processes for potential disasters and emergencies, as well as the importance of teamwork and coordination.
The training sessions to be conducted as part of the efforts led by the AFAD Coordination Office at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University are intended to make a significant contribution to strengthening the institutional capacity of the AHAK Team and enhancing disaster preparedness. The AHAK Team Accreditation Training, the first session of which has already taken place, will continue with other training sessions to be held within AFAD.
At the conclusion of the training, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Musa Özata presented certificates of participation to the staff who attended the First Aid Training course, which was conducted by Lecturer Vedat Açar from April 16 to 22, 2026, under the protocol between AFAD and our University’s Continuing Education Center.
